Thousands of vulnerable children living in residential institutions lack social and emotional support – one poignant example is that they rarely get to mark their birthdays. On International Children’s Day, 1 June 2011, please join us and help more children enjoy a birthday.

About The Campaign
By taking part in Light a Birthday Candle for Lumos, you can help us change the lives of thousands of vulnerable children by raising vital funds to support our work in ending the systematic institutionalisation of children across Central and Eastern Europe.

Bake & Take
A bake sale at work is an easy way to raise some money and cheer up your office at the same time. Why not spend a few hours baking up a storm and encourage friendly co-workers to do the same? You’ll be making a real difference to our campaign and having plenty to smile about too!

Tea & Cake
Afternoon tea with friends and family is an enjoyable way to spend a summer’s day. In return for donations, why not supply classic treats such as sumptuous scones, delicate cucumber sandwiches or tempting cup cakes? Or make something of your own concotion and send us the recipe to pass on!

Your Money?
The money you raise will go towards Lumos’ work with vulnerable children in Central and Eastern Europe. With your help, we can move further towards our goal of ending the system of institutionalised care for children for good. Your donation, however small, improves the lives of these children.

Who’s Involved?
A host of well-known chefs, including Ainsley Harriot and Ed Baines, have kindly donated their favourite tea party recipes, to give you inspiration for your event. There are cakes, muffins, drinks, puddings, tarts, and scones, and that’s just for starters. Check the recipe section to find out more!

Our Partners
This year, we’re delighted to have secured corporate support from a range of organisations. We are hugely grateful to them for helping us raise awareness about our work. Thanks to Nellie’s Parties, Juicy Lucy, Gift-Library.com, Frog in the Field, and DC Leisure, UK Fast, and Bug Interactive.
